Santiago will be the world capital of cadet chess

Monday, October 15th, 2018 was held the presentation of the World Cadets Chess Championship took place at the “Cidade da Cultura de Galicia”, featuring the mayor of Santiago de Compostela, Martiño Noriega; the Counciller for Culture and tourism, Roman Rodriguez Gonzalez; the secretary general of sports, Marta Miguez Telle; and the  presidents from both the Spanish Chess Federation (Javier Ochoa Echagüen) and the Galician Chess Federation (Gaspar Perez Carnero).

The “Cidade da Cultura” will be packed with kings, queens, bishops and pawns thanks to the World Cadets Chess Championship that will be held between November 3th and 16th, 800 players from 8 to 12 years of age will compete in this tournament, to which kids from 80 countries and five continents will be attending. During these 13 days, we will be able to follow on streaming 100 live games and there will be many parallel activities, such as trainer courses, excursions and school chess workshops.

World Cadet U8, U10, U12 Championships 2018: Registration Deadline extended till 10th of September


International Chess Federation (FIDE), Spanish Chess Federation (FEDA), Galician Chess Federation (FEGAXA) and the World Cadet Chess Championships 2018 Organizing Committee, have the honor to invite all the FIDE member Chess Federations to participate in the FIDE World Cadets Chess Championships 2018 (under 8, under 10 and under 12 years old – open and girls), which will take place in Santiago de Compostela, Spain, between November the 3rd, 2018 (arrival) and November 16th, 2018 (departure).
